    The Network Engineer III is a senior level administrative position within the IT Shared Services team. Primary responsibilities include planning, design, installation and performing ongoing administration of ION’s Shared Services network infrastructure as well as related initiatives and projects. This position will work closely with peers, IT management, business leaders, as well as directly with 3rd party vendors to design and administer solutions that address business-driven requirements.

     

    The ideal candidate should be motivated, resourceful and be able to communicate clearly and effectively with peers both within the IT teams as well as with non-IT business partners. The goal of this position is to ensure ION’s communication infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently and develop solutions that meet the needs of the business.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform advanced level administration, installation and troubleshooting WAN, LAN, VoIP, WLAN, and telecom services for ION’s 60+ locations.
    • Act as primary "owner" of key technologies, services, and projects becoming responsible and accountable for their successful implementation and operation.
    • Mentor/cross-train team members on existing and new technologies.
    • Participate in planning, architecture design and implementation.
    • Perform tasks, procedures, and technical support for projects and issues.
    • Perform maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, and security hardening.
    • Monitor network performance, make and implement recommendations for improvement.
    • Create and maintain documentation for policies, processes, procedures, guidelines, system configurations, and service operations.
    • Participate in rotating after-hours on-call rotation.
    • Minimal travel to remote sites to maintain network infrastructure.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    •  5+ years of related experience in a Network Administrator/Engineer role performing design, planning and implementation of enterprise networks.
    • Expert-level experience implementing, managing and troubleshooting telecommunication, such as VOIP, PBX, SIP, etc.
    • Expert-level experience configuring and troubleshooting LAN/WAN technologies and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, MPLS, VPN, BGP, OSPF, PBX, QoS, DSCP, DHCP) in a Cisco environment.
    • Expert-level experience with designing and implementing high available networks.
    • Experience with managing and troubleshooting firewalls in an enterprise environment.
    • Experience securing complex network infrastructures utilizing industry best-practices and standards
    • Advanced-level experience with wireless design, configuration, and implementation and troubleshooting.
    • Advanced-level experience monitoring and analyzing complex network infrastructures for health and security.
    • Ideal candidates should possess a minimum of one (1) of the following:
      • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Collaboration
      • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – R&S
      • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Security
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work well as part of a team as well as individually with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to manage and balance multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience with ITSM, ITIL, and other best practice/service management concepts.
    • BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience managing Mitel VoIP and AVST voicemail technologies.
    • Experience managing Aruba wireless and authentication technologies (i.e. Clearpass).
    • Experience managing Adtran devices.
    • Experience implementing and managing Juniper firewall devices.
    • Experience utilizing Solarwinds to monitor an enterprise network.
    • Experience managing Checkpoint firewalls and modules.
